Statement on the passing on of Ms Langalethu Nkala

The Students And Youth Working on sexual and reproductive Health Action Team (SAYWHAT) is deeply saddened by the untimely death of Ms Langalethu Nkala on Sunday 19 September 2021 in Bulawayo. SAYWHAT extends heartfelt condolences to Ms Nkala’s family, friends and colleagues. The institution has been robbed of a hardworking, observant and a benevolent character.

Ms Nkala’s was one of SAYWHAT’s founding secretariat members who understood and appreciated the institution’s calling. She grew with the institution and became part and parcel of SAYWHAT’s ever evolving stages whose foundational transformation are spelt through the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) which she served under at some point too. Langa joined SAYWHAT secretariat on full time basis in 2008. By the time of her untimely death, she was the coordinator for both Bulawayo and Midlands provinces.

Langa, as she was affectionately known, was a passionate sexual and reproductive health rights advocate for young people and the youth whose work has footprints in Bulawayo and Midlands Provinces. Her valuable contribution towards a healthy generation of young people shall remain written in the hearts of many.

Lala ngokuthula Langa. May Langa’s soul rest in eternal peace.

With warm sympathy

SAYWHAT
