Undergraduate Intern IT

The IT intern role is focused on providing effective and efficient operational support to the Communications and Advocacy department. This involves maintaining and updating organizational systems to ensure the smooth running of operations. The intern will be responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, resolving system errors, and proactively addressing any operational challenges that may arise.

Duties:

  1. Assisting in the maintenance of existing hardware (laptops, printers, tablets), software, and network systems by identifying and correcting software defects.
  2. Installing, maintaining, and updating operating systems, databases, and applications and configuring wireless networking equipment.
  3. Setting up and maintaining LAN, and wireless routers for all users and supporting the administration and user setup of applications such as Office 365.
  4. Providing help in administering network and data security, firewalls, antivirus, email security, etc.
  5. Working closely with developers to improve organization websites and systems.
  6. Identifying the training needs of system users and providing the required training as needed.
  7. Providing remote user support; and assisting in the maintenance of the ICT Equipment.
  8. Performing any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
  9. Person Specifications:
    1. Educational and Professional Qualifications
  10. Studying towards a degree or diploma in Information Technology; Computer Science or related field.
  11. Possess technological skills in Windows, OS, Malware detection and deletion.
  12. Knowledge of programming languages and ability to write and debug code.
  13. Has an understanding of software related troubleshooting, antivirus, firewall and anti-malware.

  • An ability to work effectively in teams and accept leadership and guidance.
  • A self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Excellent writing skills in English and ability to communicate.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including teamwork and networking skills.
