SAYWHAT collaborates with distinguished academics who mentors and guides young researchers, fostering innovation and critical thinking across Southern Africa. Their academic leadership ensures that emerging researchers are equipped with the tools, knowledge and support they need to conduct structured research with proper research methodologies on the health and education challenges of their time.

SAYWHAT recruits a cohort of 15 students annually from across SADC between January – March to participate in a 6-month mentorship program (April – September). SAYWHAT then supports young researchers in publishing their research papers and disseminating their findings and recommendations to relevant persons, governments, and development practitioners e.g., through the Research Indaba and Research Insights (a Studio of Choice podcast). Research publications therefore serves as the evidence-based engine for SAYWHAT Advocacy reinforcing our organization as a youth-led institution.
