YCA4SoTra Project
With support from European Union and in partnership with the Save the Children and WILD, SAYWHAT is implementing the Youth Collective Action for Social Transformation (YCA4SoTra) 2024 – 2026.
Project goal: To support 40 youth-led/focused Community Based Organizations (CBOs) across 10 districts in Zimbabwe enhancing their ability to engage in policy discussions on key challenges affecting Zimbabwean Youth. To achieve this goal, SAYWHAT partners with Zimbabwe Youth Council and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment Development and Vocational Training.
Targeted Districts: Beitbridge, Binga, Bulawayo, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Gwanda, Harare, Kariba, Matobo and Mutare.
Following an extensive advocacy and governance training, collaborative discussions, and strategic analysis, the selected 40 CBOs identified the most pressing challenges faced by Zimbabwean youth and narrowed their advocacy themes as follows:
These five advocacy priorities present a structured approach to empower youth, engage local authorities, and drive policy reforms that will strengthen Zimbabwe’s youth. The coalition invites various stakeholders to support this initiative, champion sustainable development, protect vulnerable communities, ensure a climate-secure future, paving way for a more inclusive youth driven Zimbabwe.
Strengthening child protection mechanisms will safeguard young lives, while advancing climate resilience efforts will secure their future against environmental threats.
Digital transformation will bridge economic disparities and enhance access to education, while health and wellbeing advocacy ensures young people have the resources to make informed decisions.
Youth economic empowerment will create lasting opportunities, reducing unemployment and fostering self-sufficiency.
