YOUTHS Project

Young people Organized for Universal access to Tuberculosis and HIV Services (YOUTHS) was implemented across all 10 provinces in Zimbabwe, under Stop TB Partnership CFCS Round 12 from 2022 – 2024.

Project Goal: Strengthening young people’s participation in TB and HIV response mechanisms.

In collaboration with National TB Program, SAYWHAT mobilized students in tertiary institutions and trained them as TB Champions to advocate for equitable service delivery, policy reforms, and improved health financing. Through community-led monitoring and gender-sensitive programming, TB Champions shaped TB and HIV policies and services, reducing mortality and morbidity among adolescents and youth. In addition, TB Champions developed abstracts and participated in International Conferences e.g., The International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA 2023) and the World Conference on Lung Health 2024.

TB Champions also contributed to the development of the Youth-Focused TB Rights and Literacy Manual that was launched by the Ministry of Health and Childcare at the 2025 World TB Day. Read more here
