The SASI Debate Challenge in its 8th edition takes a solution-driven approach, allowing
students to engage in critical discourse on gender issues. The filming and production of
the Debate Challenge will take place on Monday, 14 – Tuesday, 15 July 2025 at SAYWHAT
Studio of Choice, with post-recorded editing taking approximately one month before the
competitions reach television audiences.
Through the British Parliamentary round robin
format, the debate topics will explore:
Progress in implementing the Beijing Declaration & Platform for Action
Persistent challenges in women’s empowerment & gender equality
Interlinking health and education policies in Zimbabwe
Emerging issues: climate change, technology, and digital equity
Evaluating gender equality contributions to the 2030 Agenda
Following the intense debates, students will commemorate the end of the challenge
through a special dinner event on World Youth Skills Day (15 July 2025). This celebration
emphasizes the empowerment of young voices, linking their leadership in gender equity
discourse to the broader global movement that champions youth development,
innovation, and skills-building.
The integration of World Population Day and World Youth Skills Day into the competition’s
closing moments ties everything together, ensuring students not only engage
intellectually but also actively connect their discussions to broader global movements.
These commemorations provide an opportunity for reflection, recognition, and advocacy,
reinforcing SAYWHAT’s commitment to student-led leadership and meaningful social
impact.
